Trevor Michael

Trevor Michael

It has been 3 years since my little big guy left us and life is still a roller coaster of anguish and pain. I still often feel like I could have done something - as if it was my fault. The grief is still overpowering at times.

Please bear with me if you choose to deal with me today.

Fun Coin Facts

From the US Mint…

1.  “Clipping” is not just an offense in football…  Before they were made by machines, coins weren’t perfectly round. They also didn’t have reeded (grooved) edges. This made it easy for people to shave off pieces of precious metal. After “clipping” a coin this way, people then illegally spent the coin for its original value. Some people were even put to death for this crime in 17th century London.

Reeded edge of coin2.  Five-cent coins minted from 1942 to 1945 aren’t nickels…  Why? Because they don’t have any nickel in them! During that time, the United States Mint used a special wartime alloy instead—copper (56%), silver (35%), and manganese (9%). That way all the saved nickel could be used in the war effort.

Something for Ari

She’s still too young for beer, but I believe this is Arianne’s all-time favorite television commercial.

I hope you enjoy it as much as she does.

Things I Want to Do This Summer

This summer I will go camping in July because I had such a good time on my last camping trip.

My pack and I will to go Arizona Science Center in June because my favorite subject is science. It would be nice to go to Arizona Museum for Youth (AMFY) because I love it and it’s fun! It would be so nice to go to Mesa Southwest Museum (MSM) because it might be a great museum to visit.

I want to go to the library because I love to read!

I will go with my dad to the The Home Depot.

I want to not go to Summer School. I will try to help Dad. I will know the Cub Scout Promise, salute, motto, Law of the Pack, and respect the Uniform. I promise to do my best, to do my duty to God and my country, to help other people and to obey the Law of the Pack.  The Cub Scout follows Akela. The Cub Scout helps the pack go. The Pack helps the Cub Scout grow. The Cub Scout gives good will.

I want to get a new Webelos Scout uniform.

Cowgirls

Hey! Brandi! Erin! Charri! Where were you? I thought you got drained up in the Grand Canyon!” Summer called.

“We were only giving the horses a drink.” Brandi answered back.

“Well come on or we’ll be late for the show!” Charri replied.

Charri meant a horse show and they were in it. Boy, were they so excited. They made it sound as if it was 1 minute even though it was 3 miles. They talked a lot along the way. When the girls got there, it was so big it took 4 days to walk from one end to the other.

”Man! I have never, ever seen a ranch this big!” Erin cried.

“Me, either,” said Brandi.

“Me, either,” Charri and Summer said at the same time.

“Were peas in a pod,” they said together.

A couple days later Brandi’s horse is stolen! But Brandi can solve these things and looks for clues and looks at people like a donkey, then solves the mystery and she did just that and got her horse back.

A month had passed and it was time to go home.

The Why Poem

I do not understand

Why people hurt others
Why people say cuss words
Why people murder.

But most of all I do not understand
Why people are unfair just
Because we make a mistake.

What I understand most
Are that kindness, politeness, and forgiveness all go together
Because they are ingredients to make good people.

My Desert Watercolor

Ari's desert scene

This is a picture I did in my fourth-grade art class. We were given different instructions like “spread a certain amount of water on the ground” or be careful on the colors.

The first thing I thought about was how bumpy my bottom ground should look. Well of course, it should at least rocky looking (not like a rocky ground where there’s solid rock). So that’s what I did. Now for the middle ground. That was easy because it’s kind of like a hill. Same thing with my back-ground.

The cactus was a little hard so I needed a lot of concentration. In my opinion my cactus looks great! The little cacti as you can see are far away. I like my tiny cacti the best. They look like little Mexican jumping beans. I hope you agree with me. I wonder if the black cactus rotted in the heat. Poor cactus.

I was very proud when my art teacher said my sky looked realistic. She told us that our sky would look real if we were to take a paint brush and dip it in water, then paint the water on our paper. Then we were to dab blue paint on the water and let the water do the job of spreading the paint. I did dab it but I “helped” the water by spreading the paint. I know my sky can’t be perfect because only God can make the sky perfect just like he did now.

The details are my favorite part of a picture. At the bottom you see a baby coyote and a desert flower. My friend (classmate) helped me with the baby coyote because I make mine look like a dog. The desert flower is what I made. There are also a nest and a couple far away birds. The nest is filled with two eggs and the birds are hawks soaring around the desert.

There are all kinds of paintings that we see everywhere. Our art teacher loves paintings so she told us that we should we should paint a painting that comes from an artist named HENRY MATISSE. We got to see one of the pictures he made. Ours don’t look like his paintings but we still did the same thing.

Painting is the best you could ever do. I love painting. I get started and never want to stop. PAINTING IS THE BEST!
